HLUMC rummage sale July 21-22 to feed the hungry

Houghton Lake United Methodist Church is raising money to fund its Food Truck Ministry.

Each year, for six months, food is distributed to needy families in the community. The approximate cost is $1,800 per month. Food is purchased from the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan.

The program is funded entirely by donations. Several trucks have been generously sponsored by individuals or service groups such as the United Way, the Masons and the Roscommon County Community Foundation.

On July 21 and 22, the church will be hosting a rummage sale from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The church received a large donation that includes brand new items and clothing still bearing tags. Items include household goods, outdoor decorations, lighting, arts and crafts, baskets, never-worn shoes and socks, purses and clothing (mostly large and plus sizes).

The church is located on the corner of M-55 and Knapp Road, across from The Custard Cup.
