Troopers arrest driver with suspended license

State Police from the Houghton Lake Post arrested a 33-year-old Prudenville woman Jan. 8 after she crossed the center line on M-18 near County Road 100, causing oncoming traffic to drive onto the shoulder to avoid a collision. The woman was arrested for driving while license suspended, second offense. She was lodged in the Roscommon County Jail on a warrant out of Emmet County.

State Police have a possible suspect in a case involving the use of counterfeit money at Houghton Lake on Jan. 3. According to Sgt. Harold Terry, an employee of the Houghton Lake Shell gas station in Roscommon Township accepted a counterfeit $100 bill at around 1:30 p.m. that day.

The possible suspect in the case is a 19-year-old female from Houghton Lake. The case is still under investigation.

The theft of an expected package from the mailbox of a resident on Elizabeth Road in Lake Township was reported to State Police Dec. 30. When the package did not arrive as expected, the resident called the Houghton Lake Post Office, which informed her it had been delivered.

She told police that the post office said other residents in the area had made similar complaints recently. The case is still under investigation.
