George Prusik

St. Helen resident George Prusik, 90, died Jan. 1, 2018, at The Lighthouse at Roscom­mon Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Cremation has taken place and inter­ment of ashes will be in Fairview Cem­etery, St. Helen. Arrangements were handled by Steuernol & McLaren Fu­neral

He was born April 8, 1927, in De­troit, to John and Eleanor (Kurczewski) Prusik. He had lived in St. Helen since 1995 and was formerly of Port Sanilac.

On Sept. 1, 1951, he married Mary Lou Schommer. He served in the Army during World War II. He was a member of St. Helen Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus and VFW 5680 in St. Helen. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and travel­ing. He was a member of the National Rifle Association and was an avid gun collector.

Preceding him in death were his par­ents; wife, Mary Lou, in October, 2017; and great-granddaughter, Cadence Mel­by.

Surviving Mr. Prusik are his children, Greg (Marianne) Prusik of Hessel, Ju­lie (Bill) Schafer of Duvall, WA, Paula (Dennis) Pack of Shelton, WA, Grace Prusik of Lakeland, FL, Joe (Janet) Prusik of Port Huron and John Prusik of St. Helen; grandchildren, Will, Andrew, Vicki, Mary, Ashley and Joshua; four great-grandchildren; and sister, Vicki Knight of St. Clair Shores.
