Mary Alexandria Johnson

Mary Alexandria Johnson, Roscommon, died Dec. 19, 2017, at her home at the age of 101.

The Rev. Dr. Craig Hexham will officiate a service Saturday, Jan. 13, at 2 p.m. at Walsh Funeral Home, Roscommon. Burial will be in Pioneer Cemetery, South Branch Township. Walsh Funeral Home, Roscommon, handled arrangements.

She was born June 29, 1916, in Ruda Kameralna, Poland. Her parents were Jacob and Mary (Fulara) Ruzowski. She had lived in Roscommon since 1992, having moved from Saginaw. She came to the United States in 1924 and was raised in St. Charles.

On Aug. 18, 1966, she and Harold Johnson were united in marriage in Saginaw. Her husband preceded her in death Dec. 11, 1995.

Mrs. Johnson worked in assembly at Eaton Corporation in Saginaw during World War II, as a housekeeper at homes in Saginaw and at Saginaw Osteopathic Hospital for 16 years before retiring in 1966. She contributed to Unity.

She was a past member of the Mikenauk Rock and Gem Club. She never drove a car in her life. She collected books, dolls, jewelry and rocks. She also made walking sticks, key chains and jewelry, which she gave as gifts.

Preceding her in death were her husband, Harold Johnson; two daughters, Gail and Maxine Chilton; three broth- ers, Ted, Eugene and Leo Ruzowski; sister, Stella Wozniak; and the father of her children, Max Chilton, in 1983.

Surviving Mrs. Johnson are her daughter, Carole Chilton of Roscommon and boyfriend, Clay Horton of Grayling and close friend, Bob Feist of Roscommon; granddaughter, Susanne (Craig Everitt) Ellison of Nampa, ID; sister-in-law, Eleanor Ruzowski of Lake Mills, WI; three nephews, Dick Chilton and Andy and Gary Ruzowski; five nieces, Diane Welch, Sue Ward, Nancy Erndt, Lisa Corbin and Leanor Klug; and her kind neighbors on Hillis Drive, to whom she was grateful.

Memorial donations may be made to the Mikenauk Rock and Gem Club.
