Phyllis Marie Brotherton

Houghton Lake resident Phyllis Ma­rie Brotherton, 76, died Jan. 6, 2018, at Grayling Nursing and Rehabilitation Community.

A service was held Jan. 10 at Walsh Funeral Home, Roscommon. Burial will be in North Shore Memorial Gardens, Coloma.

She was born Jan. 28, 1941, at Ben­ton Harbor, the daughter of Oral Dee and Lucille Genevieve (McKibbin) William­son. On April 18, 1985, she and Fritz W. Brotherton were united in marriage in Kalamazoo. She had been a resident of Houghton Lake since 1997, having pre­viously lived on a boat in South Haven for 12 years.

Mrs. Brotherton was an administra­tive assistant at Don Seelye Ford in Ka­lamazoo. She was an artist and enjoyed photography, fishing and cats.

Preceding her in death were her par­ents; son, Mike Kolenko; daughter, Amy Brotherton; and brother, Joe Williamson.

Survivors include her husband, Fritz Brotherton of Houghton Lake; children, Jeff Brotherton of Cleveland, OH, Bud (Kathy) Kolenko of Middleville, Scott (companion Sharon Pelligrino) Broth­erton of Fairview Heights, OH, Sandy (Kip) Landry of Coopersville and Marc Kolenko of Portage; 17 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; brother, Larry (Joan) Williamson of Florida; and sister, Marilyn Timmons of Lawrence.
