Saturday filled with Easter events

The Easter Bunny and even a real bunny will make multiple appearances in Roscommon County Saturday with three Easter events taking place at Houghton Lake and St. Helen.

Roscommon County Blodgett Memorial Airport

Children and their families will have to look up to the sky to get their first glimpse of the Easter Bunny Saturday because he will be arriving by airplane at Roscommon County Blodgett Memorial Airport.

The Roscommon Area Pilots Association/EAA Chapter 1580 will hold the eighth annual Easter Egg Drop at the airport beginning at 9 a.m. Once the Easter Bunny lands, pilots will take to the sky in three separate flights to drop Easter eggs along the airport’s grass runway.

Once the children collect their eggs, they will take them to the Cornerstone Aviation Maintenance hangar to be exchanged for goodies. The event will also feature free hot beverages and donuts at the hangar.

For information, call Airport Manager Eric Jaroch at 366-4503.

St. John Lutheran Church

For the first time, St. John Lutheran Church, 2888 West Houghton Lake Dr., will host a community Easter egg hunt beginning at 10 a.m. inside the church.

Children will search for 1,000 candy- filled eggs by age group in the sanctuary and refreshments will be offered in the fellowship hall.

Although the Easter Bunny will not be in attendance, a live bunny named Charlie will be there. Children will also receive a take-home bag with items containing the Christian message, such as an activity book, bracelet and a glow- in-the-dark cross. The Easter Gospel will also be shared and families will be able to register for the church’s Vacation Bible School, which is planned for June 18-22.

For information, call 366-5164.

St. Helen

The Easter Bunny will make his final appearance on a Richfield Township Department of Public Safety fire truck just in time for the annual St. Helen Easter Egg Hunt.

The Easter Egg Hunt, which has been an annual event since 1976, will at place at Richfield Township Park beginning at 1:30 p.m.

Children will search for several hundred eggs in different areas of the park based on their ages. Parents are encouraged to bring their cameras to get photos of their children with the Easter Bunny.
