Veterans Benefits Fair April 26 at Prudenville American Legion

A Veterans Benefits Fair is planned for April 26, to be hosted by American Legion Post #245, Prudenville, along with the Northern Michigan Veterans Coalition and the Roscommon County Veterans Affairs Committee.

From 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., there will be trained and accredited service officers on location to assist area veterans and their families with benefits counseling, claims assistance, housing assistance and educational programs. Veterans can learn about benefits they earned while in uniform and receive help in filling out forms, filing a service-connected disability, getting a DD 214, a VA home loan or educational benefits.

Not only are veterans from Roscommon County encouraged to attend, but those from all across Northern Michigan are invited to stop in, as well. This is a free service to all veterans and their families.

In addition, community members may attend and “thank a veteran” for their service to America. Light refreshments will be served.

Veterans from all war eras, including active duty, National Guard and Reserve veterans of Iraq and Afghanistan are welcome. Vendors from various agencies around the state will be on hand to meet veterans and their families to help them with any needs or questions they may have.

The event is supported by the Michigan Veterans Affairs Agency.

The American Legion Post is located at 3564 South Reserve Rd., Prudenville. For information call Steve Rollins at (989) 370-7197.
